Ethiopia produces different types of beans for export and local consumption. Beans are typically rain-fed grown without chemicals on plots The country is supplying beans in to the export canning industry to the Europe market and also to the middle east.

Haricot bean

There are different types of haricot beans that grow in Ethiopia based on colours. White pea beans, Red kidney beans, Red speckled kidney beans, Light kidney beans, pinto beans.

Faba bean

Faba bean is an important grain legume grown in central high lands of Ethiopia. It is a crop of manifold merits in the economy of the farming communities and serves as a source of food.

Greenmung bean

It is a recent introduction in the Ethiopian pulse production. Mung beans are small, ovoid (and sometimes cylindrical) in shape with a bright green skin. They have green skin hence they are also called green beans.

Soya bean

is multiurpose, most nutrioutionally rich crop as it's dry seed contains the highest protien and oil content among garin legumes with a good balance of essential amoin acides and oil.
